Memory Foam Mattress 4th of July Sales

Here are all of the major national retailers currently offering 4th of July sales on memory foam beds. We looked at ads, deal websites, press releases, newsletters and other sources and tried to ensure details are accurate, but offers may be subject to change.

Some retailers are offering sales on entire memory foam lines and for those we choose 1-2 of the more popular models to compare below. This year, the majority of retailers seem to be focusing on innerspring brands, so there are fewer memory foam mattress sales to compare than usual.

Mattresses are sorted from lowest price to highest, and we also included details on mattress specifications and retailer policies when available. Some brands do not disclose all details, and in those cases we put a “?” to indicate we were unsure. The abbreviation “MF” stands for memory foam, and the years in parentheses under the warranty column refers to years of full-replacement or non-prorated coverage.

Getting the Best Mattress During Holiday Sales

It’s easy to be blinded by big discounts or to feel pressured during limited-time deals, but a new mattress is something you will be using nearly every day, and hopefully for several years. Doing a little research and a thorough comparing of your options before you make a decision is important even during 4th of July sales.

How to Shop 4th of July Sales

Back in our guide to saving during Memorial Day sales, we put together a detailed list of questions to ask and research when shopping memory foam mattresses. Here’s a quick recap, and you can also visit our How to Shop for a Memory Foam Mattress guide for more info.

1. Ask what each layer in the mattress is composed of, and the thickness of each layer.

2. Get the densities for each foam and memory foam layer.

3. Ask what the cover and fire barrier are made of.

4. Ask how long the warranty is. Also ask how long the non-prorated period is, and at what depth impressions are covered.

5. Ask what the return policy is, and what fees you would have to pay to return.

Comparing Memory Foam Mattresses

Get the information listed above for each mattress you are considering so you can easily compare options and spot the best values. It may helpful to track your research in a notebook or spreadsheet so you have it handy.

When you are comparing the layers in the mattress, you want memory foam to be very close to the surface to get the pressure-relieving benefits, and not buried under inches of poly foam. Poly foam has no memory and is typically a much lower-quality foam.

The best amount of memory foam will vary depending on your body type and sleep position preference. For example, a petite person or back sleeper may feel more comfortable on a bed with 2-4 inches of memory foam, whereas heavier people and side sleepers may prefer 3-6 inches of memory foam.

Most memory foam mattresses are made with more than one layer. Additional layers require adhesives than can limit breathability and produce odors. If that may be an issue, make sure you know what you’re buying.

Foam densities are measured in pounds. The right density will also depend on your personal preference. Low density foams (under 3.5 lbs) are less likely to feel hot or smell, can feel easier to move on and are cheaper, but higher density foams (over 5.0 lbs) are more durable and better at relieving pressure points. Medium density memory foam mattresses (3.5-5.0lbs) tend to have slightly higher average ratings than beds with either low or high density foams, as they fall in between the two extremes. You can tell you a lot about the quality, durability and longevity of the foam by its density.

You want the cover material to be breathable so air flows through the mattress. Materials like cotton, bamboo rayon, wool and Outlast are all good options. If you are concerned about chemicals, you may want to ensure that the company uses non-toxic fabric fire barriers rather than potentially harmful flame retardant chemicals.

A good-quality memory foam mattress should have at least 10 years of full coverage warranty, and should cover impressions of 1 inch or less (as this is when it can start significantly affecting your comfort). Many warranties are prorated, meaning the amount you are eligible to receive when your mattress fails decreases with time.

And lastly, you should also have at least 30 days to return if the mattress doesn’t work out, even when you buy during a sale. Testing a mattress in a showroom or reading about it online simply isn’t enough to know whether or not it will be compatible with your body for a full night’s sleep. If you are trying memory foam for the first time, it also can take a few weeks to adjust.

Some companies have very long return policies and others may not allow returns. You don’t want to be stuck with a mattress you don’t like. This is usually fairly easy to find out.

Mastering the Art of the Mattress Sale

Finding a good mattress at a great price shouldn’t prove too difficult. You just have to make sure you have a strategy and use your head. These sales will start to be advertised soon. Take a good look and make some comparisons. Read customer reviews and reviews from independent websites. There are loads of places you can find information on any mattress you are trying to buy.

You now should  be well prepared to tackle the mattress sales this year. We hope this guide to memory foam mattress and this year’s 4th of July sales helps your search, and if you have any questions feel free to comment below!
